Has “gentle parenting” gone too far?
In this episode of 42 PodCatcher, Lakshmi Girish Kurup — Founder & CEO of Shraddha Mental Wellness Centre, Parenting Coach, and Internationally Certified Counsellor — explains how today’s generation of parents is caught between authoritative discipline and extreme softness.
She calls the 90s generation the “sandwich generation” — raised by strict parents, yet now trying to raise emotionally secure children. But in the process, many are confused:
👉 When does empathy become overprotection?
👉 Are we afraid to say “no” to our kids?
👉 And is this why anxiety and identity crises are rising among teenagers?
From fatherhood and family balance to teen relationships, ADHD, and modern marriages, Lakshmi brings decades of counselling experience to reveal how small shifts in parenting can restore emotional stability at home.
If you’re a parent, teacher, or even part of this evolving generation, this conversation will make you rethink what “good parenting” really means.

നല്ല അവതരണം 👍♥️♥️
eh ammamrum job okke kazhjijttu vannu kochinte karyangal nookarundu …..space onnum edukan ulla samayam poolum ella
Human brains are not designed for multitasking.Ladies nu multitasking il interest ullathu kondu alla cheyunathu. Avark vere option illathathu kondanu. Venam ennu vechal aanugalkum cheyam. Randu perum balance cheythu responsibilities equally divide cheyanam. No so many womens are working outside.I stopped watching at this point of interview. It's so disgusting to hear scientifically wrong facts from a psychologist. Syllabus of Degree Psychology should be change to more scientifically oriented. Thank God I didn't hyped this video
Many of the things she tries to mention here is social conditioning facts.. men can be equally independent as women as u can see in western countries. Men are just privileged enough to be skipping many things here because of the social conditioning. Multi tasking is difficult for me as well. I do many mistakes when i have to so many things same time. When someone is made to do it for first time or occasionally , its quite obvious for them to go panic. Irs just that. This doc ia trying to ground the same old things..
I had attended one of her seminar in trivandrum just before covid. I liked her approach
❤❤❤❤
Why the stereotype…? Why is ut so that women can multitask and men cannot… I am a woman and I am really not able to multitask… And i've seen men multitasking.. women are just forced to do so… that's all…
Njan first aayta oru 1 hr podcast full kanunnath. Very nice presentation and really informative 🥰
About multitasking I would say it’s because women at a very young age are trained to do a lot of things at home while boys are not expected to do these things . When we set a same expectation and responsibility for both boys and girls at home it will change.
The title of the video is incorrect. It's not gentle parenting that's failing. What people do thinking that they are doing gentle parenting is what's failing. Gentle parenting has its foundation on empathy and compassion. It's not a recipe to fail, but it's hard to understand how to do gentle parenting and to practically apply it. That's where the failure lies.
Just a subtle correction.
Theres a difference between Authrotative and authoritarian parenting style 5:29.
Very informative video. Keep up the good work guys.
The Great.👌👍💐

Nice….
പുറത്ത് വേറെ ഒന്ന് എങ്ങനെ ഇത് work ആവോ
Gentle parenting work out akumo societyil palatharam alkar alle?? So school, neighbours ellayidathum kuttikal aa same expect cheyille???
Adhd, autism etc cannot be cured…only managed with coping tecniques and medication if necessary . Like Diabetes it is lifelong
From 11:00 minutes onward till around 14:30, it’s completely nonsensical. The person explaining everything is a counsellor, which makes it even more disappointing.
Please, do your research before conveying such messages to the public. When you speak on such topics, it influences people – and this isn’t something anyone should be inspired by.
1. Women are not born with multitasking abilities — we’ve been conditioned to be that way.
2. There’s no such thing as a “hero dad” , Both parents are equal. Children see what we show them – if we show them equal love, respect, and partnership, that’s what they learn. They don’t naturally differentiate between parents unless we teach them to.
This kind of messaging only reinforces conditioning that places men above women.
And honestly, I couldn’t continue watching the rest – I just didn’t have the patience for it.
It would have been better if the professional sticks to the scientific explainations rather than supporting the social conditioning and stereotypes and generalising things such as:
-the punitive punishments didn't affect the children in joint families as there were other people to support?? (A person who is trauma informed will never speak like that. May be she hadn't come across anyone who shared their experiences of humiliation and issues with favouritism and abuse in joint family set up. And also why parents automatically end up in punitive punishments even though they are aware that they are not helpful)
– women are ok with multitasking?? ( Please stop supporting men who use weponized incompetence) Women are doing that because they are have no other choice
I was not able to watch the remaining video after 16 minutes cause I am not patient enough to hear this from a wellknown professional.

She needs counseling in case of woman sterio type. I guess 😢
@13.00 the lady is talking about a working husband and a housewife amma..
What about both the parents are working equally and when it comes to baby the mother has to do all the work..
I dont think ladies are better ar muktitasking.. Its just that they are conditioned that way by the society.. Patriarchy..
People lik these are again normalising such things

This video is promoting stereotyping.
1. Men are not good at multitasking. What about Western men?
2. Comparing an alcoholic father to housewife.
3. Saying that after spending one hour with father he becomes a hero. This is so bcos father gets to spend one hour full of love and attention whereas mother spends the entire time with the child looking after the overall development. She might have to scold the child and say no many times which irritates them.
4. The man of the house requires some free time after doing returning from job. 70% of today's women are working yet they come back and continue to do household work. Men in such houses continue to get free time. Don't these women also require some free time also?
@42podcatcher pls don't encourage these
👌👌👍❤
