The last What I need when starting my Mac is half of the apps that decide they need to be open before I can do anything else. it’s not that I do not want to any app starts when my Mac does, but too many do by default, which means I have to wait longer before I can use my machine to do important things like watch YouTube videos.
It’s a drag, but you can take control. Please note that we also wrote about how to prevent programs from loading when windows startsso check it out if you are a PC user.
Disable reopening of Windows at boot
Your Mac will, by default, reopen all windows after restarting. Disabling this is the best first step so that fewer applications start at boot. While some people appreciate picking up where they left off, others may prefer to choose which apps to open first. The easiest way to change this setting is to uncheck the Reopen windows on login again check box before reboot.
These settings will remain the same the next time you reboot. Note that in the event of a crash, your Mac will still offer to reopen your windows when you start it.
Check system settings
With macOS 13 Ventura, you can find all the apps that are set to start when you sign in in System Settings, which you can open by clicking the Apple logo in the upper left corner and then clicking System settings. Go to General in the left sidebar, and then click login elements.
