  1. Work in the school system, and this is exactly what happens all the time. We went back to work Tuesday for in-service, between 7 am and 8 am we had 3 different sets of parents bring the kids to school and was shocked that we were not in school yet and they had to take them back home. LOL

  2. I was an elementary school secretary for years before I was promoted to central office. We closed once in anticipation of a storm that was expected to start around 10 am. As a 12 month employee I had to go in and was told that we would get released early. When the normal start time for school rolled around (8:05) a parent tried to drop off her kids so she could get her hair done. She promised to be back before 10. When I refused to let them in she was furious.

You just can’t make it up.

  3. let me guess, your going to get hit with the next snow storm. I know we are on the outer part of it and calling for up to 4 inches. We still have a ton of ice on the roads here in Henderson. I am going to be celebrating the day that we get in the the average temperatures. We got our first Cold Weather Advisory last night and we had freezing fog.

  4. My sixth grade teacher, Carole Chowdhury, would say the following to students who were just being hard-headed and didn't listen: " Go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200."

  5. When I was younger and I went to school if they called school off it was up to the kids who lived in town are those right outside of town (we're out in the country) to come to school that way we wouldn't have to make it up.

  6. Our rural school had school Thursday even though the radar showed the storm just an hour away. By 9 am, the snow was coming down thick. In a matter of an hour, the roads were horrendous. So the superintendent closed school at 1 pm & parents had to try & get their kids on slick, snow packed roads. One road had 8 vehicles stuck in the ditch. Should've just closed Thursday! At least he closed school Friday. Hope he learned his lesson. I'll never be mad for a superintendent being cautious. Better safe than sorry.

  7. Read, play games, and make memories. We have a woodstove bought graghm crackers, a candy bar , and marshmallows. My 12 yr old and I made smores while it snowed. Something he won't forget.

  8. The HAVES are just plain inconsiderate; THOSE children are THEIR creation, and NO, “ GOD/MOTHER NATURE DON’T CARE IF YOU AREN’T HAPPY WITH THE WEATHER”!😈. It’s not up to YOU or ME!

  9. Meanwhile there is another parent furious if they went and had school.
I'm really not sure at what point parents stopped wanting to parent or at what point they started thinking schools were giant daycares and no longer about learning.
