This is hands down one of the best video essays about the impacts of using AI for everything that I’ve ever seen and I WILL be forcing everyone in my life to watch it🙂↕️
The video is awesome as always, and the topic is extremely important right now, though Ground news has long been exposed for MANY things I don't think you'd want to promote
I’m sorry but I’ve seen several therapists and have also tried ChatGPT and they basically tell you all the same things. It does not just validate your feelings, it pushes back against me all time. I find most of the criticism against it to be untrue.
I'm so baffled how people turn to AI for connection…. what about friends? I don't have a lot of friedns. just a handpicked few…. and even I know to turn to my people for help. even if I just want to vent. you can say "hey, I need to vent about something" and your friends will let you vent. it's not hard.
I started a new job a little over a month ago. The department head uses AI to write emails and it is SO obvious. He also copies and pastes things together which end up making no sense. He can't even format correctly; different fonts, incorrect subject titles, etc. He even used AI to create a PowerPoint that he presented to the heads of all the other departments. Spelling errors and reiterating the same talking points in 4 separate slides. 🙃
I wrote my first ever book this year, and I was looking for beta-readers to get some feedback from before trying to find a way to publish. One of those "betas" SENT MY BOOK TO THEIR AI FOR A REVIEW AND THEN SENT THE SCREENSHOTS TO ME. I flipped out at them, HARD, screaming in text bc wtf that is the most disrespectful thing you can do with someone's art. So they SENT MY MESSAGES TO THE SAME AI AND TOLD ME THE FUCKING AI SAID I WAS HYSTERICAL. Then they kept laughing at my rage, so I cursed their ass. This is hell and I want to die.
Hiii guys, I want to get a buzz cut (maybe) and would like to see how it would like to see how it looks on me,,, do you think I should use AI? what other tools could I use? Thanks
When I was really struggling with my mental health, the services gave me an Ai app to talk to while i was on the waiting list. I tried it once and then never used it again, i need a person for very complex issues, not going to trust an Ai with those…
The corporate bank I work for makes all staff use Copilot with GPT. They insist ALL communications go through Copilot, and my boss refuses to read anything unless it has been "cleaned up" by it. Communication is using all meaning.
Some AI free youtubers I follow in the sewing/maker/creativity world not mentioned in the video; Morgan Donner, The Stitchery, Hazariel Atelier, Wizard's Keep, and Morning Mercury. Some try every craft they can get their hands on, some mainly sew, but all of them make interesting, beautiful, or hilarious things. The silly hats series from Wizard's Keep is very fun for example!
Chatgpt and deepseek knows my whole life more then I do😭
Some of us don't have friends and family members I have trust issues with. I ended up depending on it, until I got into uni and went to therapy. After a few years I've finally deleted it❤
Don't conflate or confuse LLMs with the sort of AI that is being used for medical or scientific research. Those models are being developed by actual researchers and scientists to specifically be able to analyze medical and scientific data, and their research is being verified independently and further analyzed by humans as well as AI. They aren't being trained to hallucinate bullshit the way LLMs and generative AI models have been. It is an entirely different thing, and the vast majority of work being done by datacenters is LLM and generative AI slop, not medical or scientific research.
I hate when people are like "But to be fair, AI is being used to do science research to" like that makes the existence of ChatGPT somehow legitimate. They're not using ChatGPT to do that medical research, it's a totally different model that is specifically developed and trained to do that research. LLMs and generative AI are an entirely different sort of thing and are 100% bad and stupid. We were doing research with AI models for years before bullshit like ChatGPT showed up and started ruining everything.
My mother told my younger brother he should use AI to summarise a book and I'm scared. I tried explaining to her that a summary couldn't possibly give you a full understanding of what the book actually says, and that there are countless summaries/reviews made by real people that probably do a batter job, but they seem to really be pushing AI where she works and it's starting to have an effect.
On a semi related note, I'm trying to read more non fiction so if y'all have any recommendations I'd be happy to hear them. I already ordered The Anxious Generation and I'm eager to read it even though I expect to find some parts of it problematic.
I was browsing Amazon recently, and found out that they removed the ability to filter by features. You can't search for, say, a vacuum, go into them filters, and click cordless; you have to type it into the search bar. So if you're looking for a cordless, lightweight vacuum that's good for pet hair, you need to put it all in the search bar. Or ask their little AI assistant.
These companies literally need to remove features that should be standard in order to increase use of their AI bots.
Lots of good points in the written portion of the video, but the sponsorship from an AI news aggregate like Ground News makes the whole thing feel like a joke.
I recently did an argumentative essay last semester in English about how badly AI toys are affecting kids and make suggestions to improve the issue. It’s so sad how much manipulative tactics people make these bots use. Especially emotional ones to trick kids into feeling bad for “leaving” the toy.
i feel like people fail to realize that in therapy your therapist isnt actually suppose to baby you or just listen to you and agree with you all the time, therapists are there to help you and part of helping you is supporting your GROWTH!! if you are babied, agreed with all the time and not pushed out of your comfort zone you will not grow. you will not heal. sure it feels nice to talk to someone but if you're not given true outside advice you WILL be stuck in a loop and things will not get better.
As for comfort show recommendations – I listened to My Dad Wrote a P*rno back when I had a lot of bad days, because it’s so ridiculous I couldn’t stop laughing, and the three hosts just have infectious laughs. It gives me the same feeling as sitting down with my friends for a pizza and just being silly.
As for TV, my friends and I have started something of a tradition of rewatching children’s TV shows when one of us struggles. Our go to so far is Penguins of Madagascar (in part because we all liked it as kids and it’s easily available for us). The episodes are short and fun and colourful, there’s just enough plot and tension to draw you in but no more, and it always ends in a funny and silly way.
I've been a graphic designer for almost 20 years, and recently I had a client feed a whole presentation I made into ChatGPT, then it spit out the most first-year-art-student feedback imaginable, and produced a generic alternative logo for me to use instead. I had to walk away from my desk to cry. My boss ended up putting a stipulation into our contracts with new clients going forward to stop them from giving our intellectual property to LLM companies, but what's worse imo, is the fact that everyone expects me to produce far lower quality work now, because they trust the LLM over my decades of experience…EVEN THOUGH the data set is predominately stock graphics. I can see that it produces slop, but too many people prefer the slop.
I stopped watching Hank because of this and I'm still sad about it. I felt his use of AI as an educational creator was extremely irresponsible and I didn't get the vibe that he really understood how bad it was. I also realized that he was a man turning to AI for tasks that are typically expected of women, rather than doing them himself. So now I'm questioning his intentions entirely smh
I don't think using ia in medical science would help much bc it's just a tool to get work off of doctors and researchers' back and they will be reliant on it and they will eventually stop working and using their brains even less than now. Just as it is with tests so far. Every single doctor appointment I go to, the doctor barely even examines me or ask any questions at all and just says "take these tests" which are not always the solution as we already know.
I'm a physics student and I recently learned that researchers in maths and physics are expected to rely on AI for very large parts of their research, and are expected to produce about 4 times as much research with the help of AI as they would previously have been able to do on their own. I hate this so much. Furthering research is fantastic, but despite what people think, creativity is necessary even in fields like maths and physics. Producing research with AI which will then only be read by other AI to produce more AI research feels really dystopian and its changing the world of academia (at least in maths and physics) immensely for the worse. I have changed from wanting to become a researcher to now working towards becoming a teacher because I do not want to work as a researcher where I rely on AI to do my work. I also hope I can get students to learn without using AI, but god this all feels like a horrible dystopia and I'm afraid what will happen to the next generation (and all generation tbh). Also, I love your videos, thank you for making fantastic video essays about important topics and not using AI to do so <3
The companies want you to be afraid of AI because it makes a product that doesn’t fully exist in a viable form seem more powerful than it is. They want these programs to “hack” other programs. If they didn’t, there are ways to keep that from happening (like not giving them access to the internet). They need speculation about their product to make their product valuable because it isn’t valuable enough on its own yet. Don’t fall for it.
My HISTORY TEACHER encourages us to put primary sources into AI to make the language simpler…THAT DEFEATS THE WHOLE POINT OF ANALYZING PRIMARY SOURCES!!!!!
Please listen to me when i tell you, GROUND NEWS IS NOT A NEUTRAL SOURCE. They are not unbiased and they are not free of controversy, please look into it.

I got a gemini ad on this video. sigh.
Who got an ad for ai while wacthing this vid ???
Lol when does this video become racist towards AI?
I've made little use of AI, I cannot find it reliable.
The video is awesome as always, and the topic is extremely important right now, though Ground news has long been exposed for MANY things I don't think you'd want to promote
The bizarre schoolbooks took me out. 😂 Like why TF do they need to rewrite schoolbooks using AI? JUST COPY THE OLD BOOKS Jesus effing Christ.

17:31 This could be such a cute car family game
Like "PodCARt",a fake podcast between you and your children,They would probably love it!
(You and your kids, not you and AI)

bruh, I just got an ad for an AI chatting app T^T this timeline is so depressing
but on a more positive note I absolutely love Ouran High School Host Club and Sarazanmai, peak comfort anime 🫶✨✨✨
Why do you talk like Terrence and Phillip?

Generative ai is built to target and brainwash people who lack the brainpower to see it's wrong.
If you haven’t seen the show Ghosts (particularly the BBC version!) I highly recommend checking it out! 👻❤

i really hope everyone against AI because of it’s environmental impacts also don’t eat meat bc it’d be hypocritical asf if they did
